The control moves but doesn't work in the settings with preamp disabled. It works if I disconnect preamp and enable preamp emulation.

It's possible that the application is not compatible with the module you want to use. Check the manual of the application to see what is supported. Alternatively, this could be a bug and you should update the application to its latest version.
My disc player is directly connected to Windows 7 PC via USB. A dozen LP's restored correctly, setting with pre-amp emulation disabled. Suddenly input signal breaks off mid-disk. Disk-player is running correctly. Audio card was tested with Internet audio. What should I do?

The problem with the sound signal is usually related to cables and connectivity. The first thing to do is to check the cable's connection to the PC. As a recommendation, replace the cable that's connecting to PC or switch the port. After this operation, check the device manager. It's possible that not all devices were installed properly.
Lastly, re-install the program and configure it again, but this time use Administrator, and switch the USB port. Use the back ports, because the ones from the front might give you problems.
